Associate, Valuation & Capital Markets Analysis – Complex Financial Instruments

Job Summary

 

The Valuation & Capital Markets Analysis Associate is responsible for utilizing previously obtained educational background, along with established organizational and project management skills to successfully service clients of the Valuation & Capital Markets Analysis group. In this role, the Valuation & Capital Markets Analysis Associate will work within a team environment to actively assist in the analysis and resolution of client matters while taking direction and receiving guidance from experienced staff and management members. The Associate will be involved in all stages of client management including construction of valuation modeling, completion of industry and client research and analysis of financial statements. 

Job Duties

 

  • Constructs valuation models for valuing complex securities including, but not limited to equity derivatives, contingent consideration / earnouts, TSRs, Stock Options, convertible debt etc. utilizing a range of option pricing models (OPMs), including Geometric Brownian Motion based Monte Carlo simulations, binomial and trinomial lattice models, and closed form solutions such as the Black-Scholes model, required
  • Performs company, industry and economic research
  • Performs benchmark analyses and assists with analytical tasks and projects
  • Analyzes financial statements
  • Assesses operational profitability and financial conditions
  • Develops and reviews cash flow forecasts
  • Navigates public company databases and filings
  • Documents and ensures quality control of work product for assigned engagements
  • Composes appropriate narrative reports to support valuation analyses 
  • Develops exhibits and memos to illustrate complex issue
  • Assists with project preparation and delivery
  • Archives work files in accordance with BDO Best Practices
  • Participates in external and internal client meetings
  • Other duties as required

 

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or other relevant field required.
  • M.Com / MBA preferred

 

Experience:

  • One or more years of experience in valuation of complex financial instruments, prior valuations experience with a valuation firm preferred

 

License/Certifications:

  • CPA / CFA / ASA or other certification preferred

 

Software:

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, required
  • Basic technical skills: Word, standard pdf tools
  • Prior experience with VBA, Python, R, Capital IQ, Crystal Ball, @Risk, or similar capability industry language / software, preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Superior analytical skills with the ability to deconstruct complex issues
  • Ability to analyze and organize high volumes of data
  • Solid organizational skills especially ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details

  • Proven ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to successfully interact with professionals at all levels
